4.8 Product Identification and Traceability
QMS/9000+ lets the user identify a product
uniquely in terms of product/part ID, characteristics,
specifications, acceptance criteria, test procedures and
applicable drawings during all stages of manufacturing. QMS/9000+
also links each component element, whether material, process or
measuring gage to any intermediate or final output for
traceability. Identification of root causes is the mainstay of
continuous improvement and QMS/9000+ provides
information to accomplish this.
- Unique product/part identification and batch/lot numbers
- Association with applicable drawings, specifications and
quality records
- Traceability to predecessor and successor components or
manufacturing process
- Traceability to measuring instruments/gages/tools
- Traceability with batch control to predecessor components
for as-built configuration management
