JKA, Inc.
JKA: Committed to Quality
The Company is privately held. Its stability is demonstrated
by over 30 years of successful performance in the area of quality
information management. The software represents the most
extensive investment in quality information systems on the
market. And the Company continues to invest heavily in research
and development to maintain that position. John A. Keane and
Associates Inc. is totally committed to computer integrated
quality information systems.
Simulators have been
used successfully by NASA for years to train astronauts and
design rockets, reducing expensive trial and error with real
people and spacecraft. Continuing a long history of firsts, JKA's
newly patented inventions bring space-age simulation technology
to the desktop. In this low-cost environment, teams can run a
Virtual Factory and try out different quality systems to find the
best solution, risking only virtual dollars and jobs. The CIM
Quality™ Suite embodies these technological breakthroughs
within easy to use software that can be purchased
on the Web.
Over 30 years Manufacturing Experience
JKA, founded in 1967, began by providing consulting services
on the use of computers in industrial applications for U.S.
manufacturers.
First Real-Time, Integrated Quality System
In 1968 JKA started development of a "Dock to Dock"
quality information management system for one of the largest
health care products companies. The specification called for an
on-line, real-time system to manage the flow of quality
information beginning with the receipt of materials from
suppliers to the shipment of products to the distribution system (horizontal integration). The feedback and
reporting also had to satisfy the informational needs of all
individuals concerned, from factory floor to top management (vertical integration).
On-Line Quality Goes On-Stream in 1973,Many Firsts
JKA completed the prototype system, QCOS, in 1970. The system
went into production in 1973. QCOS contained many firsts that
later become standards: user modifiability, multi-user
environment, database architecture, real-time adverse trend
detection, graphical displays of control charts, histograms, et
al.
JKA Experience Cuts Across Industries
Consulting for 12 years with leading
U.S. companies in pharmaceuticals; chemicals; electronics;
automotive and aerospace/defense industries, JKA increased the
flexibility of its computer-based manufacturing quality system
and extended its functionality. JKA gained invaluable experience
in the process.
QMS/9000+™: A Repository of the Best in Manufacturing
Quality
From this twelve years of continuing development work emerged
QMS/9000+, incorporating the most
extensive experience from some of the best manufacturers in the
world. This experience allows JKA to offer a computer integrated
quality system that is now configurable by plant people to a
variety of different manufacturing environments for a spectrum of
quality information needs. JKA provides QMS as an "open
system" operating on platforms ranging from personal
computers / workstations for real-time process and cell control,
to client/server departmental computers to pull together
composites of the quality picture for managers, to n-tier
client/servers at the enterprise level for an executive view of
the cost of quality.
JKA Gets a Seven Year Head Start on ISO 9000
Beginning in 1986, JKA marketed QMS/9000+ to the
Aerospace/Defense industry as a cost effective solution for the
Department of Defense's own version of ISO 9000, MIL-Q 9858A. JKA
acquired indispensable seasoning working with DoD auditors in an
environment similar to the ISO 9000 third-party arrangement.
JKA: First With Configurable Integrated ISO Solutions
Today JKA, Inc. markets
user-tailorable QMS/9000+ solutions to manufacturing
companies in the U.S., and through distributors to firms in
the European Community and Asia. The Company specializes in
computer integrated quality. Among the services offered are:
evaluation of quality information needs requirements; development
of specifications for plant and corporate quality information
systems; preparation of cost justifications and consulting help
in preparing capital appropriation requests; installation of
quality systems; training and consulting in the use of quality
information systems to address corporate needs.
